A Bead Here, A Bead There

Some traditions are shared around the table. Others begin with a single bead.

Peranakan beadwork is one of those traditions.

Passed down through generations, the intricate art of creating Kasut Manek is a beautiful expression of patience, craftsmanship and attention to detail. Every bead is placed by hand, one at a time, gradually coming together to create something both intricate and enduring.

Whether you're simply curious about Peranakan beadwork or wish to spend more time exploring the craft, our Heritage Experiences and Heritage Workshops are designed to meet you where you are. No prior experience is needed—only a willingness to slow down, create with your hands, and enjoy the journey.

Every session is intentionally kept intimate, allowing space for personal guidance, meaningful conversations, and an unhurried appreciation of this treasured tradition.

You'll leave not only with something you've created yourself, but also with a deeper connection to the stories, patience and craftsmanship that have shaped Peranakan beadwork for generations.
